I feel like most of these are true of working in general, but there are some things that come to mind.

If you find a new job that suits you better, your employer will be sorry to see you go, but will generally support you in your choices and career. They may try to make a counteroffer to get you to stay as well, but there should be no bad blood for looking out for yourself.

We should be courteous to your employer about leaving.
Give your employer some reasonable notice, give an exit interview to answer questions on why you're leaving, and be cordial. Even if this means leaving during crunch, you should do your best to knowledge transfer what you know to others if you can and leave your work in a good state to hand off to someone else. If you don't burn bridges, you can always come back if there's an open position - often at a better title and salary.

We don't talk to the press. FrieNDA is generally ok.
We try to avoid talking to the press when possible. If it's a friend who you trust to keep their mouths shut about stuff, you can tell them general stuff about what's going on.

The company is not the people and the people are not the company.
I've said this before, but it bears repeating. The people we work with are the prize, the company is just the machine that allows us to do the work. The company will never hesitate to fire us or cut our jobs in a layoff if it benefits their line items. We never go to bat for companies, we only go to bat for people.

Leaving money on the table is silly.
If we've earned something - 401k matching, employee stock purchase plan, swag, reimbursement for stuff, vacation time, restricted stock units, bonuses, whatever - there is no shame in taking it. We've earned it and it belongs to us. There is no shame in taking what is ours.

We shouldn't shit where we eat.
We should take care not to badmouth our employer publicly. We can do so in private while looking for work elsewhere, but we should avoid contributing to a bad working environment when we can.
