Some of my coworkers and I actually discussed this issue on the day the PS5 Pro was announced during some downtime. Our general consensus was that the PS5 Pro is a decent value for a gaming enthusiast who hasn't managed to get a PS5 by now and still wants one. However, the incremental performance upgrade from an existing PS5 to PS5 pro doesn't seem to be worth the price tag for those in our income bracket and current lifestyles.
I think the PS5 Pro is there for the enthusiasts and those with extra disposable income. I don't expect it to sell a huge number of units, but I don't think it needs to - I think the technology and manufacturing processes are mature enough that Sony will probably make a profit on each PS5 Pro they sell, rather than putting them out as a loss leader like they did with the base PS5. The PS5 Pro isn't a bad value if you don't have something comparable already.
